ABOUT DJ JULES
Music, is what makes me who I am. I love music! And, I love people! So marry the two, and what do you have? A well-rounded, tastefully-talented DJ, ready for your next event! And what do I have, the other DJ's don't, you ask?
First, I am a woman, a mom of two boys, and I have tons of life and professional experience! I am real, and I like to keep it real! I treat your next event like it is the very first, and the very last show, I will ever do. In other words, I will be there for you. Service, quality, professionalism, and creativity are of the upmost importance to me.
Second, I have been immersed in music since birth. My stepfather, Bud Moore, was a professional bass guitarist and performed with the likes of the Marshall Tucker Band, Bo Diddly, and his own band, The John Street Rockets. My mother also plays guitar and always played music at home. My upbringing was very influential in shaping my taste and my ear for music.
During my college years, I took vocal classes and began to mix records. In the 2000s, I often performed live, either DJing or singing. I specialized in a music genre called Drum & Bass, and in 2001, was awarded 2nd runner up in “Da Skills” DJ Competition. I've played in most major cities in North Carolina, and have recently started playing the piano. My music teachers over the past five years have molded me into a real musician, not "just a DJ". I have collaborated with several artists, including DJ Merlin, Sine Language, Mic Savvy, DJ FM, and Roxaboxen. Currently, I am working with two up and coming bands...I am REALLY excited to be singing with Dave George and Friends and I have a blues band in the works. I have also recently made several guest appearances singing with Idlewild South, The Allman Brothers Band Tribute. So needless to say, music has shaped my life and I am following my dreams!!
Finally, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from N.C. State University for Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management with a concentration in Commercial Recreation. After college, I worked in the multi-family industry renting and managing high-end apartments and mixed-use developments. I coordinated and conducted multiple resident functions. Working in the apartments industry provided me professional experience and a knack for marketing and events planning. These are the skills that allow me to succeed in hosting a fun event for you!
Currently, the greatest things in my life, are my two little boys, and that I can finally can make music my livelihood. The best is yet to come; I am sure of it. Join me in that journey! So whether you are looking for jazz, blues, top 40, pop, electronic, hip hop, classical, Drum & Bass, classic rock, or alternative, or even live performances with a band or vocal work in the studio, I am your gal!
